◈ How to Create Your Worker Profile
- Check your eligibility — Review our Qualifications & Duties page to make sure you have the required checks and certifications.
- Register an account — Click the account icon at the top of the page to create your Mob Care Connect account.
- Complete your profile — Add your photo, a short bio, your skills, the types of support you offer, your location, and your availability.
- Upload your documents — Submit your NDIS Worker Screening Check (if applicable), WWCC, First Aid certificate, driver’s licence, vehicle registration, and ABN details.
- Provide your referees — Supply contact details for two professional referees in line with WorkSafe requirements. See referee requirements here.
- Wait for verification — Our team will review and verify your documents. This usually takes 3–5 business days.
- Go live! — Once approved, your profile will be visible to participants and you can start receiving booking requests.

- NDIS Worker Screening Check — mandatory if supporting NDIS participants. Find your state’s link here.
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) — required if working with participants under 18.
- First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) — one-day course via Red Cross or St John Ambulance.
- Driver’s Licence & Vehicle — current licence, registered vehicle, and comprehensive insurance with work coverage.
- ABN — free to apply at abr.gov.au. Takes around 15 minutes.
- Two professional referees — at least one must be a previous employer or supervisor in a care or community setting.

◇ How to Get Your ABN — Quick Guide
You need an ABN to invoice participants and manage your tax as an independent worker. It’s free and takes about 15 minutes. Read the full ABN guide →
- Check eligibility — As an independent support worker providing services in Australia, you qualify.
- Gather your details — You’ll need your Tax File Number (TFN), personal details, and a description of your business activities.
- Apply online for free — Go to abr.gov.au and click “Apply for an ABN”. Takes around 10–15 minutes.
- Receive your ABN — Most applications are approved immediately. Some may take up to 28 days.
- Set aside tax — As a sole trader, set aside around 20–25% of your earnings for income tax each year.
Free support: Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) — business support for First Nations people. ATO.gov.au — free guides for sole traders.
◇ Getting Paid
As an independent support worker with an ABN, you invoice participants or their plan managers directly for the services you provide. Mob Care Connect facilitates the booking and connection — payments are processed securely through the platform.
NDIS support workers are paid in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. Support at Home rates are set in line with the Australian Government Support at Home Program.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an ABN before I apply?
Yes, you will need an ABN to work as an independent support worker. If you don’t have one yet, it’s free and easy to register. See our step-by-step guide here.
Can I apply while my WWCC or NDIS screening is still being processed?
Yes — you can start your application and upload your documents as they come through. Your profile will not go live until all required checks are verified.
Do I need to be a registered NDIS provider?
No. As an independent support worker with an ABN, you can work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants without being a registered provider.
What if I only want to do certain types of support?
That’s completely fine. You choose the services you offer — whether that’s transport only, social outings, in-home support, or a mix. You are in control.
How long does verification take?
Usually 3–5 business days once all your documents are submitted. We’ll be in touch if we need anything else.
Is this only for First Nations workers?
Mob Care Connect is a First Nations-led platform and we prioritise First Nations workers. If you are not First Nations but are committed to culturally safe, community-centred care, please get in touch and we will have a yarn.
